Most varieties of both Oregano and Marjoram are low-mounding plants from 1 to 2 feet tall. Easily started from seed, they are not too fussy about soil conditions other than it be well-drained. They are able to withstand dry conditions and full sun, although a little afternoon shade is best. Oreganos require little care other than shearing the plants periodically to keep them from getting “leggy” and to promote more blooming.
